Windy City Blizzard Update

The snow accumulation has been a hot topic, with it estimated to reach up to two feet by Wednesday. But a larger issue may be wind gusts. They’re currently at 40 mph in some areas, and expected to reach up to 50 mph. These gusts can create low to no visibility, causing major white-outs.

With over 1,300 flights canceled today at O’Hare, the airport will be closed on Wednesday. Mayor Daley announced CPS classes will be canceled, the first time in over 10 years. Chicago City Colleges are also closed on Wednesday due to the winter storm.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency  is continuing to urge all area residents to get prepared, especially for potential power outages and icy roads. They advise everyone to stay inside, and if you must travel by car, be sure to bring an emergency supply kit.
