The White Hot Sox

The Chicago White Sox are the hottest team in baseball, currently sporting an eight game winning streak. In doing so they have gotten contributions from the offense and their starting rotation. They leave Tampa sweeping one of the best teams in baseball highlighted by Adam Dunn’s 11 home-runs in the month of May and Paul Konerko batting .381. Dayan Viciedo has been a pleasant surprise with numbers of .291/11/28 in 47 games.

The white hot Sox come to one of the best pitching match ups that can take place in Baseball with Jake Peavy (6-1, 3.07) facing off against Felix Hernandez (4-4, 3.17). The Mariners are seven games under .500, but in their last game they had an offense explosion scoring 21 runs against the Texas Rangers.

The White Sox are a -140 favorite, the interesting thing that Vegas has here is the O/U being 7. Although these two teams have been up and down offensively all year, with the Mariners scoring 21 runs in their last game and the White Sox clearly hitting their stride offensively, it’s tough to imagine so few runs. Clearly the pitching matchup, which is that of an all-star game has handicappers skeptical.
