Red Line Normal After Suspicious Package

Red line trains were re-routed Friday morning due to a suspicious package at the Grand/State station.

According to Chicago Transit Authority spokeswomen Wanda Taylor, Red Line trains were rerouted between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations via the elevated tracks.

The call came in from CTA at 9:02 a.m., that a suspicious package was found by the tracks, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

Upon further investigation by the Chicago Police bomb squad and bomb-sniffing dogs, it appeared that the only trash was on the tracks, said Perez.

Red Line service was restored to normal at 9:40 a.m.
