Ryan Reynolds, Sexiest Man Alive

Almost every year, People magazine can be relied upon to shell out three of its well-known titles: “Most Beautiful People,” “Best Dressed,” and “Sexiest Male Alive.” On Wednesday, the latter’s name was released for 2010. And that sexy male is Ryan Reynolds.

Perhaps it can serve as a belated birthday present, as the actor celebrated his 34th on October 23rd. Many welcome this year’s title-holder; People.com’s comment board is littered with accolades from women who swoon over the doe-eyed face, and even men, envious of the chiseled abs that have also made their cameo in many of his movies.

He is most well known for his appearances and starring roles in comedy films, such as “Van Wilder” and “Waiting,” but he really made a name for himself after his breakout romantic lead, opposite Sandra Bullock, in “The Proposal.”

Ryan is well known for his humor, and it showed in an interview with Chris Connelly. ”If you can’t laugh at yourself, that’s, like, the sexy assassin. That’s how you literally murder sexy.” He bases his self-deprecation on his Canadian roots (By the way, he is the only Canadian choice since the feature’s premiere in 1985).

But alas, the actor has been married to the equally sexy Scarlett Johansson since 2008. Coincidentally, she was named GQ Magazine’s “Babe of the Year.” Ryan was also known for his 4-year relationship and engagement to Alanis Morissette, whom he split from in 2006.

Ryan can be seen next as Green Lantern, a DC-Comics superhero, which is planned to be released in June of 2011.
