Rondo Saves Celts

Another stellar performance from the former Kentucky Guard gave the Celtics a reason to show up Sunday Night.

Rajon Rondo led the Boston Celtics to their 101-91 win over Miami Friday night.  As impressive as his production was the way he orchestrated the offense to get their first win.

Paul Pierce actually stayed in the game until the end, something he had previously lacked in two of his last three playoff games. Pierce chipped in with a fine night but it may have been his late drives to the basket that prevented a Miami rally late in the fourth quarter.

The Heat often got within 8 points but the crowd grew particularly anxious when Mario Chalmers drove to the basket for a pretty scoop shot that caused Doc Rivers to call a timeout.

Miami would never get any closer as Rondo and Pierce came up big down the stretch.  The Celtic’s bench play was led by Dooling and Daniels who chipped in vital minutes to rest the starters and contribute on both ends.
