Ron Santo Dies at 70

Legendary third baseman and radio broadcaster, Ron Santo died late Thursday night due to complications from bladder cancer.

Santo, who died at the age of 70, had other serious medical problems. He suffered from diabetes and heart problems.

Santo is best known for being the Chicago Cubs third baseman as well as being a radio broadcaster for WGN.

Santo never made it to the Hall of Fame, even though he appeared on the ballot on 19 occasions. However, that didn’t stop Cubs fans from adoring him.

Early this morning Cubs fans swarmed Wrigley Field to drop off various mementos and to pay tribute to Santo, making No. 10 a memory in Cub fan’s hearts forever.
