Response to Building Fire

A fire in a commercial building on the city’s northwest side has been extinguished.

The fire started around 10:40 a.m. and the Chicago Fire Department was able to put the fire out by 11 a.m., said Chicago Fire spokesman Larry Langford.

A commercial business on the first floor of the building has suffered extensive damage. The second and third floors of the buildiing house several residential apartments that have substantial damage.

There is still some cleaning being done, but there were no injuries.

However, authorities report that they are seeking temporary housing for four adult residents of the building.
