Obama’s Second Stop: MK Restaurant

Obama spoke to about 50 people at MK Restaurant on the Near North Side, starting off by saying, “Michelle and I used to come here on dates, but now we have all these reporters who come on dates.”

Obama took mostly questions at MK, but did describe the spending debate as “just an appetizer, ahead of what is now a much bigger argument over fiscal policy.”

Obama also spoke about the GOP cuts to infrastructure under their budget, “U.S. airports would be worse than some in the form Third World,” Obama said. “Under their vision . . . we would be a nation of potholes.”

Talking about his campaign, he said “some of the excitement of something new is not going to be there.”

He added, “the question is do we finish the job.”
