MegaBus offers 200,000 free seats

CHICAGO — Megabus.com, the first city-to-city, express bus service offering fares as low as $1, announced Wednesday it is offering 200,000 free seats for travel Jan. 12 to March 1, 2011.

The free seats will be subject to availability for travel to/from megabus.com’s U.S. cities and Toronto during the Jan. 12 to March 1 travel period.

“The Winter Seat Giveaway makes it affordable to get away and visit friends and family during the cold winter months,” said Dale Moser, president and COO of megabus.com.  “Megabus.com’s low fares make travel affordable every day, but a chance at a free ticket means there’s no reason to stay home.”

Last year megabus.com offered 100,000 free seats but due to the company’s continued growth – including the addition of a fifth hub in Washington D.C. which begins service today – and the increased popularity of express bus travel nationwide, it increased the total number of seats to 200,000.

“We offer service to 18 cities from Chicago, 12 cities from Philadelphia, 15 cities from New York and now 14 cities from D.C.,” said Moser.  “That’s a huge pool of potential customers that can use the free tickets to experience megabus.com’s service for the first time.”

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and has served nearly 8 million travelers.  In addition to low fares, megabus.com offers customers environmentally-friendly buses, free Wi-Fi, power outlets and restrooms.

Customers can begin booking their free seats today. Travelers will need to use the promo code WOW200K to book their free seats.
