Man Robbed of Snowblower Gets Shot

This morning at about 1:40 a.m. in the South Side, a 47-year-old man using his snowblower along West 56th Street and South Shield Avenue was shot.

According to the Chicago Tribune, a white four-door sedan containing four passengers pulled up to the 47-year-old and asked how much he wanted for the snowblower.

When the 47-year-old replied it was not for sale, two men, described to be in their 20s, got out of the vehicle and took the snowblower and $27 from the man’s pockets.

Before leaving, the robbers then asked if he wanted to “get popped” before shooting the victim in the thigh. The men then got back in the white sedan and quickly headed north.

The 47-year-old’s leg wound is now being treated at Stroger Hospital and is reportedly in good condition.

This marks the first shooting since the blizzard hit Tuesday.
