Man critical after being shot by police during burglary

A police officer shot a man during a burglary-in-progess call Sunday morning, according to Police.

The shooting happened about 6:54 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Monroe Street, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

According to preliminary information, the suspect allegedly hit the officer with a vehicle, Kubiak said.

The officer was taken to Rush University Medical Center in fair condition. The offender was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, said Kubiak.
