Garfield Park Conservatory reopened Sunday after hail damage

Chicago– Parts of the Garfield Park Conservatory reopened Sunday for the first time since Thursday’s devastating hail storm.

Much of the glass ceiling in the Fern Room, Show House and Desert House, along with nine growing houses was broken during Thursday’s hail storm.  There has been no word on how much repairs could cost.

Many other parts of the conservatory, such as the Palm House and the Children’s Garden, didn’t suffer as much damage because they were fitted with shatter resistant glass during renovations.
