FOID Card Holders Name’s Possibly Released

It may become very easy to see if your neighbor has a gun.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan is requesting the state of Illinois to release all gun owners names to the public.

Illinois mandates that all gun owners register their firearms with the state, and receive a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.

But, many gun owners are arguing that the safety of themselves, as well as families, will be put in danger to the ability of criminals to access information regarding their name and address.

Andrew Arulanandam, a spokesman for the NRA, says that the mandate is “uncalled for, serves no practical purpose, and disappointed and outraged by [Madigan’s] actions.”

The Illinois State Police is preparing a possible court challenge once her ruling becomes binding.
