Firefighter injured during 2-alarm fire

A firefighter-paramedic was injured during a 2-alarm fire on the city’s South Side, according to officals.

The  Chicago Fire Department was called to a 2-1/2 story frame building on the 8300 block of South Phillips Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. The fire response was quickly upgraded to a 2-11 alarm, according to radio communcaitons.

The firefighter-paramedic was injured fighting the fire and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, said Fire Department spokesman Will Knight.

There were no other injuries reported. The 2-11 alarm was secured just after 4:30 p.m.
