Extended Stay For Weis?

Chicago–March 1st not only marks the beginning of a new month but the end of Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis’ tenure.  Now that his contract is up, Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has made it clear that he wants Weis out.  However Mayor Daley, whose term ends in just about two months, has indicated that he would like for Weis to stick around until that time.

“It’s a forgone conclusion the mayor wants him to stay,” said  Daley’s press secretary Jackie Heard, Monday afternoon. “Very safe to assume that will happen,”she said.

Daley and Weis met in a private session on Monday, but Chicago Police News Affairs said that there are no updates to report on the talks or on a possible extension.
