Person Hit By CTA Red Line

A man was hit by a CTA Red Line train at the 47th Street station Friday evening, according to officials.

Fire and paramedic crews removed one person from the tracks and transported the man in serious condition to Cook County Hospital, said Chicago Fire spokesman Kevin MacGregor.

Preliminary information reported that the adult male sustained a broken arm and leg from the accident, said Chicago Police News Affairs officer Veejay Zala.

The CTA Red Line was shut down between 35th and Garfield, according to the CTA’s website. Shuttle buses were in effect between Garfield and 35th.

Calls to the CTA were not immediately returned.
