Child Left In Overhead Bin On Plane

In a recent article from the Herald Sun, 17-month-old boy Riley Williamson was put in an overhead compartment mid-flight by a flight attendant on a Virgin Airlines plane from Fiji to Sydney, allegedly without letting the child’s parents know.

A statement from Virgin was later released claiming that the incident did take place, but that the “…husband was playing a peek-a-boo game with Riley involving the overhead compartment when the flight attendant joined in.”

However, Natalie Williamson, Riley’s mother, is contrasting Virgin’s statement and claims that the flight attendant “picked up Riley, placed him in the locker and closed the latch.”

Virgin has since offered Williamson three flights free of charge as an apology but Williamson says she is “too shaken by the mid-air experience to redeem them”.

Although the flight attendant has since been terminated, Williamson claims her son now suffers from anxiety and withdrawal because of the episode.

Says Williamson, “He won’t leave my sight now. He sleeps with me. If I’m not in the same room as him, he will scream and yell”.
