Bulls stay cool over Heat

Miami-The Bulls sweep the season series against the Miami Heat Sunday in a come from behind win trailing for most of the game.  They have met three times this season- Chicago has come away with a win in every match up.

It was all Wade and James in the first half combining for 47 points for the Heat.  It was a different story for the pair that came out for the second half though, running out of steam and only putting up 10 points.

The Bulls held  in the first half scoring 40, Rose showed more reasons for his MVP bid, driving on three defenders, also sinking a floater over the defense and over the backboard.  They knew they had to make some improvements for the remainder of the match.  “We’re just trying to play the best we can,” Noah said. “I think we still have a long way to go and we can get a lot better. That’s what is so exciting about this team. Our defense is really improving. We can still improve offensively as well.”

Chicago held Miami to only 16 in the third cutting the lead down.  Derrick Rose and the Bulls started the attack and it seemed to work with Lebron showing signs of frustration at the end of the quarter.

The Bulls took back the lead with 10:36 left in the final quarter with Rose connecting with Loul Deng swishing the 20-footer making it 67-65.  They would extend the lead to six with three left to play the game.

Miami would not let up, with help coming from Mario Chalmers putting in a huge three pointer to tie it up at 84 a piece.  The Heat hook up with Chalmers again driving to the hoop taking the lead by two.

With 17.3 remaining in the game and the Bulls down by two Loul Deng is fouled driving to the hoop.  He makes the first, misses the second but is fouled getting pushed in the back by Mike Miller on the rebound.  “That’s the right call,” Rose said.  Deng made both of his free throws taking the Bulls to 87-86.

The Heat gave Lebron the ball who faced Joakim Noah for the final possession of the game, Noah played good defense against James who drove and missed his shot, Dwayne Wade came up with the rebound and puts up a shot with time about to expire and misses the bucket, sending a fist pump through Bulls Coach Tom Thibobeau.

With the win over the Heat the Bulls take over second place in the Eastern Conference and are now only three games back from the Boston Celtics.  They will try again Monday night against New Orleans at 7:00pm.
