The Bulls Upset Atlanta

No Deja Vu for this Bulls crew.

Since the last loss in Atlanta, Chicago is 10-1.  That upset really got to the team and kicked them into a whole new gear.

Their last two games they have outscored the opponent by 40 and then 33 points Tuesday night.

Chicago could have missed every shot in the fourth and still came away with the win.  That comes from a strong start that led to a great finish. In the first half, the Bulls couldn’t miss.

They put up 72 points in 24 minutes shooting 74 percent.

Rose ended with a double-double making 30 and dishing out 10, Derrick made 6 of his 8 three pointers.

Loul Deng was right behind him putting in 27 for Chicago.  With every shot going in, the Bulls finished the game against the Hawks 114-81.

They played great defense the whole game, got their rebounds, and put away their second chance points.

After rebounds they scored 23 points to Atlanta’s six. Chicago dominated the paint getting in 48 compared to the Hawk’s 18.

“It starts with our defense,” Luol Deng said. “When our mindset is right on defense, we seem to work harder on offense. When we’re not as focused on defense, it kind of leads to our offense. We’re kind of just going through the motions. It always starts with defense.”

Defense, defense, defense, that is what we have been hearing and seeing from this team all year.  Even after they crushed the Kings, Tom Thibodeau still had something to say about the way the Bulls played “D”.

“Uh, yeah … They shot too high of a percentage. So, defensively there’s a lot of things we can clean up. But I like the fact that we got the big lead, and we played tough with the lead,” Thibodeau said.

That goes to show how determined and passionate he is about winning and bringing a Championship to Chicago.

“I’ve never played for a coach who was that focused,” Rose said about Bulls Coach Thibodeau.

“If we’re messing around in practice, he always reminds us that if we want to be that team, we can’t be taking steps back,” Rose said. “We have to play with an edge every game.”

The Bulls will have the next couple days off until they face the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night in Chicago at 7pm on Comcast.  Chicago will try and extend their home win streak to 14.

The Bulls are currently sitting one win above the Boston Celtics for 1st place and have the NBA’s second best record of 51-19.
