Chicago–After last night’s win against the Washington Wizards, the Bulls have now claimed the top spot in the East. The Bulls wiped out the Wizards at the United Center  Tuesday night with a score of 98-79.

One of the most talked about players, and possible MVP, Derrick Rose led the team in scoring with 23 points on 21 field goal attempts and close behind was Luol Deng with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists within 43 minutes.

The Bulls had a sloppy first half, defensively, which gave up 46 points to the Wizards, Jordan Crawford scored 21 of those.  The Bulls turned it up in the second half and Kurt Thomas and Taj Gibson, who filled in for Carlos Boozer (injured) and Joakim Noah (ill), stepped it up.

Gibson provided nine points and 13 rebounds, and was just one free throw shy of a double-double.

Thomas had a regular night with just eight points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, but he and Gibson both did a good job of keeping the Wizards in the paint.

And Keith Bogans showed up to play some ball, he was solid on the offense with 17 points and five rebounds;  and an even better on the defense covering Crawford, who may have been too much for Ronnie Brewer in the first half.

This win for Coach Thibodeau and the Chicago Bulls puts them in the number one spot in the eastern conference, but just half a game ahead of the Boston Celtics, who lost two straight during the last week.

The Bulls are headed to New Jersey to take on the Nets on St. Patty’s Day, March 17th at  6:00pm C.S.T.. And although the Celtics didn’t have the luck of the Irish on their side on Monday, the Bulls probably won’t need it.

**This was the Bulls 7th straight win this season, they are in the #1 spot and Mr. #1, Derrick Rose is the possible MVP for this season. Magic numbers 7-11 again…#winning!
