This is the return everyone’s been waiting for and Derrick Rose was extremely Derrick Rose like in Game 1 versus the Bucks at the United Center on Saturday. Not only did the Bulls clobber the Bucks, but Derrick Rose shined in the win putting aside all his injury fears by being aggressive and determined in the lane. Roses’s final stats for the Game 1 103-91 victory were 23 points, and seven assists while going nine for sixteen from the floor.
The front court was much better this time around for the playoff opener as Gasol had a double-double and Noah added eleven rebounds. The leading scorers for the Bulls were Jimmy Butler and Rose who had 25 and 23 respectively, while Aaron Brooks led the bench points with 13. The Bulls played great defense all around as Milwaukee went 35 for 89 for 39% which was seven percentage points less than Chicago’s 46% from the floor.
Chicago won the battles they should, out rebounding the Bucks by 11. Game 2 is back at the UC tonight and it should be more of the same. The Bucks are a great matchup for the Bulls and this series could be a quick one if they can hold serve tonight and grab one on the road later in the week.
Tonight’s tip-off is at 7PM local time and the game will be aired on TNT nationally with the local broadcast also being aired on CSNC.
