AT&T Plans to Buy T-Mobile

According to a recent article from Reuters, AT&T announced Sunday their plans to buy T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom AG for $39 billion.

If AT&T wins the bid, it would combine the world’s second and fourth largest wireless companies, creating a new ringleader of the wireless networks, with Sprint/Nextel Corporation in last place.

The deal would take a year to close and have an affect on consumers.

T-Mobile has been reported to have some of the best plan rates around with an unlimited plan starting at only $30 a month. The buyout will say goodbye to these rates and consumers can expect iPhone plan rates from AT&T.

However, if AT&T closes the deal, the company vows to create a stronger, more wide-ranged broadband network for consumers.
