$86,000 worth a vote?

Allegations are running high that Careen Gordon traded the 67% tax increase vote for a job on the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. Careen Gordon was the 75th district state representative whose term just expired. As soon as her term was up, she was appointed to her new position; her new salary, $86,000.

In an interview on October 13, The Daily Journal reports that “…she won’t vote for any income tax hike. Gordon said she’ll oppose any tax increase…” So what happened to persuade her vote? Was it the transparency of how the funds will be use; no, that can’t be it. Is it the fact that she had a change of heart; probably not. Could it be the fact that the was voted out of office, and had to find a new job; most likely.
