Chicago Police officals ordered North Ave beach closed Monday afternoon, because of the high temperatures and the number of people at the beach, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. Teen wounded in shooting involving off-duty officer

A teen was shot by an off-duty police officer this evening in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, according to officials. Police were notified of the shooting on the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue, at about 6:09 p.m., according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Phillip Armstrong. The off-duty police officer was not injured, said Armstrong. Check back for details.

A child was killed, and seven others were injured Monday evening in a car wreak on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 75th street, according to officals.
